Your Friendly Residence Life Office

For many students, college is their first time away from home. It can be great fun, but it can also be a little stressful and confusing. Your friendly Residence Life Office is here to help.

Residence Life deals with everything from dorms to academic support. They are there to make your campus life as pleasant as possible. If you need a place to live, the Residence Life Office can help you find a room in a residence hall. They may also be able to help you find a place off-campus, or match you up with a college roommate. If the heating in your dorm room breaks, Residence Life will fix it. They'll also sort out your internet connection. You'll also have a Resident Adviser, or an RA. RAs live in residence halls and can help you with all sorts of small everyday issues, like roommate problems.

Many Residence Life Offices also run academic support centers that are invaluable for incoming freshmen. They can teach you how to write great academic essays or give you a refresher on basic math. Many schools employ academic tutors that will help you if you fall behind in class. Academic mentors can help you set academic goals and improve your timekeeping and exam-taking skills.

If you're thinking of joining a society or a club, the Residence Life Office can point you in the right direction. They also host events where you can get to know your fellow students. If you're interested in student politics, you can run for Student Council and make a difference in campus life. Many students work in the Residence Life Office in their spare time.

Whatever your interests, the Residence Life Office can help you make the most of your time in college, both academically and socially.
