Career Coaching

Are you happy with your job? It can be hard to know what job you want, or how to get it. A career coach can help you identify and achieve your career goals.
A good career coach will have upper management experiences within your field. It doesn’t help to ask advice from someone who isn’t very familiar with the industry or the hiring structure.
The first thing most career coaches will do is ask you a series of questions to help them assess your current experience and indentify you career goals. Afterwards, your career coach will help you map out a path from where you are now to where you want to be.
A good career coach can identify the stumbling blocks that have kept you from achieving your goals. Are you the type of person who ends up sabotaging every chance at success? The coach can suggest techniques that will help you break that pattern.
A career coach can also offer very specific tips that can help you land your dream job. They can help you edit your resume or rehearse for an interview. A good coach may also have valuable connections within the industry and can give you a heads-up when the perfect job opens up.
Here are some things to keep in mind when choosing a career coach:
1. Experience: Make sure that the career coach has experience working within your field and knows what it takes to get to the top.
2. Credentials: Anyone can call themselves a career coach. Make sure he belongs to a reputable organization like the International Coach Federation (ICF) or the Worldwide Association of Business Coaches (WABC).
3. Consultation: It’s important to meet the coach face-to-face to establish rapport.
4. Testimonials: A successful career coach should be able to offer testimonials from happy clients.
5. Fees: The fees range from about $75-500 per session. More expensive is not necessarily better. Get a breakdown of what the coach charges and how long the sessions last.
